Cape Cods were first built by English colonists who came to America in the late 1600s but are favored by many Southern Californians for its’ relaxed beach style.

Cape Cods are characterized by a step roof, dormers on the upper level, centered front door often with a portico, multi-paned double-hung windows with decorative shutters, sided with wide clapboard, wood shingles or brick.
